Growth Requires New Approaches To Planning

Faced with record growth, Wake County, NC is taking a new, more active role in the region's planning.
"The Wake County Planning Board is taking a different approach to its job than have boards in years past -- a more active and proactive role in the county's planning and managing of growth. "We are trying to be more than just a decision body on rezonings and approving or denying subdivisions," Terry Yeargan, the board's chairman, said. "We want to educate ourselves and do it in a sense to make sound decisions on planning policies."
