Orange County Skyline May See New Building
29 December 2000 - 9:00am
The developer of a new 37-story building submitted revised plans to protect historical buildings and win approval for the project.
"Final plans for a 37-story office building were submitted to the city Wednesday for what would be the tallest high-rise in Orange County. Developer Michael Harrah, president of Caribou Industries, is proposing building the 550,000-square-foot One Broad-way Plaza. The project would have to be voted on by the City Council, which could consider the matter in about six months. When the building was first proposed in May 1999, Harrah described it as 38 to 44 stories. He referred to the plan as a "rough draft." Revisions were made to accommodate historical buildings by relocating the planned parking garage."

Its very unsuitability for an urban center justifies its current usage as a suburban or ex-urban pattern.
