Vancouver has been named one of the world's "smartest" cities in a recent list, which also includes cities from Australia, Ohio, Scotland, and India.

"In fact the city has been short listed as one of the world's smartest cities by a New York-based think-tank that focuses on economic development in the broadband economy."

"The Intelligent Community Forum lauds the city's highly-skilled workforce, its burgeoning technology sector and broadband initiatives ranging from e-government in Victoria to wireless connectivity in the city."

BOOMERS DRIVE SMART CITY REVOLUTION

It is the older, fifty-plus demographics in these cities that are skewing them as so-called smart cities. If one reads the full report, which I have, then one sees that it is not just a young, hip "wired" demographic that is cementing these cities as "smart places" The revolution is being led by the generation who reveled in revolution-the Baby Boomers--from Vancouver to Dublin, OH--and the world over. Give the growing boomer demo--this bodes well for cities across the globe.
