Who Owns Searchlight, Nevada?

An 1872 mining law lies at the heart of the dispute over who owns Searchlight, a city about 50 miles from Las Vegas.
"On one side are most of the town's 750 residents. On the other side is Ed Seggerson, a retired prospector from Las Vegas. Thirty years ago, he bought old mining patents that may give him title to several defunct mine sites. The problem is that Searchlight grew up on top of the mines. And for nearly 100 years, people have lived here."
