Global Talks On Toxic Chemicals Begin

Delegates from 120 countries begin talks in South Africa that may lead to ban on the production of the world most dangerous chemicals.
"[C]onservationists say [Persistent Organic Pollutants] POPs have had a devastating impact on human and wildlife populations worldwide, even in pristine Arctic and Antarctic habitats that are thousands of kilometers from the original source...They are used in a wide range of industrial and farming activities, from paint additives to pesticides that kill crop-eating insects."
