Washington area transportation agency announces region needs to increase spending by 50 percent.
"The Washington area's top transportation agency yesterday sounded the loudest alarm yet about funding forhighways and transit, announcing that the region must boost its spending by more than 50 percent above currentlevels: an extra $1.7 billion annually over the next 25 years."
