Editorial discusses how the listing of the Puget Sound chinook salmon as an endangered species will affect land use and the economy in the Seattle area.
"On Jan. 8, 2001, the listing of Puget Sound chinook salmon as a threatened species will go into effect. Our region will never be the same... However, growth management, which balances all of our goals in determining how and where we grow as a community, is ultimately themost important mechanism we have for preserving the ecosystems within which we live."
