NAACP Asks Palm Springs To Apologize For Destroying Homes
13 November 2000 - 12:00pm
NAACP is demanding an apology and reparations from Palm Springs for destroying homes in a "city-engineered holocaust."
"Beginning in the mid-1950s, Palm Spring burned and bulldozed homes located on a rundown mile-square area of reservation land, which had been targeted for development. According to a state investigation conducted between 1966 and 1968, evictions came with little warning and the residents, most of them blacks and Hispanics, never got money to find new homes. "

“
Its very unsuitability for an urban center justifies its current usage as a suburban or ex-urban pattern.
