After The Fires, Forest Rehab Begins

The summer fires are out but the next task is land rehabilitation for 6 million acres of blackened forests.
"Wildfires blackened more than 6 million acres ofhigh-mountain forests, sprawling grasslands, anddesert sagebrush in the United States this summer.The aftermath of wildfires can be just as devastating as the flames themselves. Landslides and flooding can occur as the result of soil erosion, invasive weeds can get a foothold,sediment and debris can clog streams ruining fish habitat, and loss of vegetation and forest cover can negatively impact birds and wildlife."
