Cutting McMansions Down To Size

16 April 2007 - 5:00am

This CNN video report looks at an Atlanta city councilperson's proposal to fight back against McMansions and limit the size of houses.

The proposed size regulations would limit the square footage and height of any new homes built in the city. The councilperson also hopes to preserve the look and character of historic neighborhoods by imposing stricter restrictions on housing facades.

But some say the strict restrictions will just slow down the process of building homes and will have very little effect on their size and appearance from the street.
