Citing beach closures that occur 68% of theyear and the high incidence of water pollution from urban runoff, Coxillustrates every community member's contribution to water pollution inthe area.Cox announces the beginning of a regional effort to address watercontamination with a planned meeting of the Board of Supervisors,representatives from the county's 18 cities, and top experts from thearea to create a plan with "real solutions." According to Cox, everycitizen must mobilize to produce positive changes in San Diego Countywater quality, and he gives a personal pledge to work toward cleanerwater through regional collaboration.
