Bush Seeks Large Increase In National Parks Funding

President Bush's 2008 budget proposes $2.4 billion for the National Park Service.
"President Bush set aside $2.4 billion in his 2008 budget for the nation's 390 parks and made it clear that an agency plagued by chronic funding shortages and years of deferred maintenance must be standing tall before its 100th anniversary in 2016...The president's proposal marks the first real effort in at least a decade to address what many call the shortchanging of America's parks."
