Boomtown Looks To Hire Lots Of New Planners

The Municipality of Wood Buffalo is looking to fill 49 new positions in its planning and development department to cope with the area's incredible growth -- a result of the tar sands boom in northern Alberta.

"Record land development, driven by an unprecedented nine per cent growth rate, has created a pressing demand for city planners and engineers, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, announced today."

"For 2007 the municipality aims to fill 140 new positions, of which 49 will report directly to the Planning and Development Department. Available positions include, professional planners, planning technicians, professional engineers, engineering technologists, real estate and development professionals, geographic information system professionals, draftspeople and support staff."
