Skiing In The Desert

Southern California must reduce reliance on Colorado River water even as its population increases, so plans to build water-ski projects southeast of Palm Springs is raising eybrows.
"Developers say the projects use no more water per acre than a golf course. Others wonder whether the lakes, which will evaporate at a rate twice as great as Northern California reservoirs, are a wise use of an overtapped resource. " "At a time when we are being told to reduce our water use, does it make sense for us to be building water ski lakes in the desert?
