talk to alumni
Before I selected a planning school, I spoke to a lot of students ... I even convinced some faculty to give me the time of day. It was all helpful information, but ...
I really should have asked to be put in touch with recent alumni in my intended area of specialty. Had I done so, I should have asked them about the jobs that they were in and what aspects of the program best prepared them to (a) get the job and (b) perform the duties.
Even if you don't know what job you'll want when you are done, or what your area of speciality will be, I'd recommend talking to alumni as part of your school research.
As an alumnus, I've had several prospective students contact me. I think that I've been able to give them a useful perspective that addresses the value of program beyond one's time on campus.
