In this guest column to the San Diego Union-Tribune, TrudyRubin of The Philadelphia Inquirer denounces America's alarmist tacticof using of high oil prices as an indication of an "energy crisis," asthere are no gasoline lines and U.S. consumption is characterized by thegas-guzzling SUV. Rubin points out that the current price fluctuationsare driven by a supply and demand market, and with proper management,they will stabilize in the long run. In order to encourage marketstabilization, consumers could use measures, or government officialscould implement strict policies on conservation, the author states.
