CRA In Hot Water In Hollywood

The CRA approved $4 million to keep a Hollywood landmark. But money paid for land for a parking garage has landed them in a city-wide controversy.
The CRA has voted to invest $4 million to keep the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood. The CRA paid $1.45 million in 1998 to buy a parking lot which was intended to become a garage for the Tower. That land had been appraised earlier at $795,000. City Council members have promised scrutiny and an audit of the transaction.
