Texas Feels Housing Slowdown

After years of big increases, home building is softening in Texas.
"An abundance of apartments and the Federal Reserve Board's attempt to engineer a "soft landing" of the national economy may be squeezing home building in Texas.As of June 30, a 12-month rolling tally shows Texas residential construction permits fell 9.7% from the same period a year earlier. Permits in every area of the state either fell or had weaker growth. Dallas, the nation's No. 6 housing market, saw the biggest drop at 21.1%. Permits in Houston, the No. 5 market, fell 16%.'
