Florida Keys Residents Moving Out

High cost of living and recent hurricanes are driving residents of the Florida Keys to Central America.

"...the Florida Keys, a narrow, 120-mile strip of islands, have long attracted Americans looking for a slice of laid-back Caribbean paradise, no passport necessary...Many Keys residents are leaving in search of the lifestyle that brought them here... A study released in August by the Keys' official tourist agency concluded that 20 percent of the archipelago's hotel and motel rooms, RV spaces and campground sites have been either converted or targeted for conversion into condominiums or hotel-condominiums since the beginning of 2004."
