Minorities Help Achieve Census Turnaround

U.S. Census Bureau says 67 percent of households returned Census forms and the declining trend of census response has been turned around helped by an improved response from minority communities.
At a news conference the U.S. Census Bureau said that 67 percent of households returned Census forms compared to 65 percent in 1990. The declining trend of census response has been turned around helped by an improved response from minority especially "in places that spent money on outreach, such as California...thirteen of the nation's 15 largest cities equaled orbetter their 1990 response rates."
