Beach Cleanup an Upstream Battle

People in 78 countries expect to collect 8.5million pounds of coastal trash as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.
The International Coastal Cleanupevent aims to clean up shoreline trash and raise awareness of water pollution. Experts worry about the unseen water pollution from land-based activities. "City planners in Ocean City, New Jersey, have brought in teepee-shaped trash cans to stymie seagulls that want to land on them and scavenge,worked with vendors to develop alternativepackaging for carryout pizza boxes that clog thetrash can openings, and adjusted trash pick-upschedules."
