Warehouses Are Booming In Laredo

The warehouse-building boom in this border town is reaching proportions that would have seemed incredible a few years ago.
"This year, Laredo expects to add five million square feet of industrial space, more than double the 1999 total, according to the Laredo Development Foundation, a nonprofit agency that receives city funds." The North American Free Trade Agreement is fueling the boom, but little is being done to plan the growth.
