Florida's Beach Sand Ordinances

Hurricane-battered Florida counties are replenishing their eroded shorelines. Is the replacement sand just as good?
"Escambia County, Florida, is considering an ordinance requiring new sand brought onto its beaches to meet much more scientific measures. In Walton County, officials are conducting a study to determine precisely what type of sand should be used in a coming beach-restoration project. The study aims to define not only the color of the sand but the grain and texture, which affects the way sand piles into dunes."
