Gentrificaton Meets South Austin, Houston-Style

What some see as a renaissance, others see as an unwelcome invasion.
The on-going transformation of Austin from a laid-back, liberal, inexpensive oasis to a wannabe Dallas has finally come to 48 acres inSouth Austin. Modest, undisturbed neighborhoods are about to undergo the same development crises as yuppier neighborhoods north of the river. But this is Bubbaland, and they don't think the politicians down at City Hall are their friend, and the politicsof planning may not give them voice in the process either.
