300,000 Dissatisfied Orlando Citizens Look To Secede

20 February 2006 - 5:00am

Frustrated with government services and a lack of culture, Orlando residents in East Orange county are in the beginning stages of planning a new city. If successful, the new city would dwarf the current size of Orlando.

"It could become Florida's fourth-most-populous city, dwarfing neighboring Orlando."

"Behind the drive are business owners and residents who say they are dissatisfied with the quality of their government services. They call themselves LEO! -- the committee to Liberate East Orlando!...from Orange County, that is."

"They envision a community with more cultural venues, including a Lake Eola-style amphitheater, more parks and increased police patrols."
