Panel approves new runways into the San Francisco Bay; environmentalists oppose the decision.
A regional panel approved the entension of new runways in the San Francisco Bay. The new runways are critical for the health of the local economy, to reduce delays, and to mitigate noise, and accomodate larger aircraft. Environmentalists oppose the decision saying other options have not been explored. " "It's amistake to endorse more runways into the bay -- an already severelydegraded resource..."
