San Bernardino Seeks Ideas For Downtown

"The downtown area should be the signature of a city," Mayor Judith Vallessaid. "We don't have a signature right now."

Downtown revitalization will be the focus of the updated general plan in thecity of San Bernardino. Proposed changes include allowing second floorapartments over storefronts, relaxed development requirements and creating aseries of lakes and streams in the city. Strict construction standards thatwere enacted after a 1980 fire destroyed 250 homes could also be relaxed.
