GrandParent Family Apartments in the Bronx provide housing and social services including parenting classes, recreation for all ages, and tutoring for children. The 50-unit building with 24-hour security is a joint effort of Presbyterian Senior Services and West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing. "Nationwide, the 2000 census counted 2.3 million people who are primary caregivers for grandchildren. In New York, 44,000 elderly care for children, while in Washington 8,100 households qualify as generation-gap households."
