Will Housing Bills Save Affordable Housing?
2 September 2000 - 8:00am
Five of 10 bills that California's home-building industry pushed to boost housing construction survived to make it to the governor's desk.
The 10 bills made up the so-called Jobs Center Housing package, which eventually was backed by a diverse coalition of about 65 organizations, including the Urban League, Western Center on Law & Poverty and Wells Fargo Bank. All share concern about the shrinking supply of affordable homes in the state, especially in coastal housing markets.
