Loft-Style Redevelopment Displaces Homeless Population

National Public Radio discusses how Los Angeles redevelopment strategies, while benefiting young professionals, are pushing out the area's transient population.
"Unlike many big cities, Los Angeles has a homeless district that has largley been out of sight out of mind for most Angelinos. But that is changing as more and more lofts are being constructed. Advocates say that with every Ipod-wearing, middle-class, person who shows up, the homeless are being pushed further to the margins."
