Nashville may have many great qualities, but what it doesn't have -- and what Charlotte does -- is a revitalized urban core.
"Charlotte, comparatively, has managed something very noteworthy. Specifically, it has aggressively, successfully and dynamically zoomed past Nashville in redefining its urban core...
Eye-popping towers with decorative tops loom over Charlotte's bustling Trade and Tryon streets intersection. Pedestrians (about 15,000 will dwell in downtown’s four wards by 2008) flood sidewalk-level eateries and retail shops. An electric trolley moves from downtown (called Center City or Uptown by the locals) to South End/Dilworth, whose many warehouses and industrial buildings have been renovated."
