Long Beach to Protect Parks 'In Perpetuity'?

A bill would ban public and private development in Long Beach parks.
Long Beach city council will hear a bill on Tuesday which would prevent anypublic or private development in city parks 'in perpetuity.' Current plans toexpand a police station into a park may be exempted. Parks advocates hope fora voter referendum instead, since future council action could negate the bill.
