Balancing Property Taxes And Growth In Idaho

Idaho's property taxes are rising rapidly to keep up with population growth. Idahoans don't like it.
"In the past decade, Idahoans have seen their total property taxes grow from less than $700 million to $1.1 billion to support local governments, schools and taxing districts that pay for libraries, mosquito abatement and more. That's about 75 percent more money than Idaho property owners were paying just a decade ago. That money comes from higher property taxes and from Idaho's population growing by nearly 40 percent in the last 15 years."
