City Blends Something Old, Something New

Housing projects in Madison, WI, are blending older buildings with new construction.
Developers say added expense of saving and reusing older structures may initially look prohibitive, but ultimately the older buildings set the tone for projects and serve as a selling point. "We support creative reuse of the buildings... Preservation isn't about mothballing things and turning them into museums. They also can be put to new uses."
