Sales of the E-ZPass have surpassed all expectations, driven by intense media coverage and government controversy.
"People have been lining up with waits of three hours to get a transponder in New Hampshire, where E-ZPass is THE news story of the summer. If it is not arguments about whether the governor threatened and intimidated the state transportation commissioner over transponder prices, someone not getting their 30% discount, it's about suggestions the electronic tolling is sending the system broke, or violations, or continuing arguments about tokens and/or transponders, or the problems of the ACS call center, whatever. Transponders are the summer fad."
