The Fall and Rise of the Bijlmermeer

The Dutch Bijlmermeer high-rise housing estate located outside Amsterdam has seen more than a lot of trouble. But now, after years of unsuccessful regeneration effort, the Bijlmermeer is finally thriving.
"The Bijlmermeers reputation as a desolate, crime-ridden high-rise housing estate doggedly persists. Fortunately, reality has moved on, even if perception lags behind. A quick metro ride to the Bijlmermeer station from the Amsterdam city centre reveals a thriving and energetic suburb."
