Water Systems That Mimic Nature

All around the country, planners and engineers of water and stormwater systems are giving a new spin to the concept of "green infrastructure."
Innovative water and stormwater projects reflect a possible new approach in environmental stewardship: planners from South Forida are restoring riparian habitat and wetlands along its previously drained canals; Orange County, California is planning to recycle its local water supply rather than piping effleunt into the ocean and the PECO Energy Company in eastern Pennsylvania has created a natural stormwater management system that exceeds local requirements.
