Price Of Buying Open Space Land Too Expensive For Florida Community

City of Pembroke Pines wanted to pay $11 million for a $1.2 million piece of land.
"Last month Dodge suggested to commissioners that the city pursue buying the land south of Griffin Road and east of U.S. 27. Dodge wanted to use money set aside for open space in the $100 million parks and roads referendum voters approved in March. The purchase would virtually wipe out the designated open space funds, but Dodge said the city could apply for grants to replenish the pot."
