Infill Projects A Passion For Albuquerque Developer
Long-time New Mexico developer Sean Gilligan works with several neighborhood association to revitalize Albuquerque's downtown.
"Gilligan, who built his own home Downtown, says the future holds perhaps some bigger projects closer to the core, along with small commercial projects to bring services and amenities to the higher-density residential areas and tie neighborhoods together...
Saiz says some light commercial development would bring jobs and more stability. "It encourages people to stay in the area," he says. "Small businesses attract other businesses."
Gilligan says the city, while supporting infill, doesn't have the right zoning in place for mixed-use projects in established areas, a problem Mayor Martin Chavez has said the city needs to address."
