Arizona's Vestar Development strikes early in less-populated suburbs with huge malls that anticipate growth.
"Vestar Development Co., the company behind Desert Ridge Marketplacein north Phoenix and Scottsdale Pavilions, says it will build more than 4 million square feet of shopping in the southeast Valley and push into Pinal County for the first time. That's enough retail stores to fill three of the largest regional malls in the state...
Vestar's early strike in those communities reflects how developers are adapting to rapid growth."
