Wisconsin Planning Law Threatened

Wisconsin Legislators repeal comprehensive planning law and grant program in draft budget bill.
Wisconsin currently requires all municipalities, counties, and regional planning commissions to prepare comprehensive plans for future development. The law also provides competitive grants for communities that incorporate smart growth goals into their plans. The current budget bill would repeal the law and the grant program, even though 40 percent of the state's communities have already prepared their plans.
