Silicon Valley opposes a mandated fee while Assemblyman looks to annexation in BART extension to San Jose.
"Assemblyman Tom Torlakson, D-Antioch, is playing hardballwith powerful Silicon Valley officials seeking to mortally wound a bill that mandates a buy-in fee to extend BART to San Jose.To counteract Santa Clara's offensive, Torlakson is looking at a California Public Utilities Commission annexation code that, if used, would result in a $3 billion buy-in fee and annual BART property taxes for the county's nearly 2 million residents."
