Univ.To Drop Community Planning Department

Citing economic reasons the University of Rhode Island announced that it will begin the process of closing down one of two publicly funded graduate planning programs in New England.
"The University of Rhode Island is taking the first step toward eliminating its community planning department, leaving the state without a single accredited planning program....oney was the overriding factor behind the move. The department graduates just a handful of students annually, but requires at least five professors to maintain its accreditation. "
