Miami To Adopt Form-Based Zoning

City leaders say Miami's zoning code encourages insensitive development.
Miami's antiquated, patchwork code encourages poor planning. But "Miami 21" will attempt to remedy this by replacing the old zoning rules with new 'form-based' codes.
a sweeping plan that over the next two years would replace the old zoning rules with a new ''form-based'' code designed to weave new development into a cohesive and lively urban fabric -- protected neighborhoods, appropriately scaled and sidewalk-friendly buildings, walkable streets, open plazas and green spaces, all with an attractive and consistent look.
That's the vision.
