Montreal announces a new $5-million program to create a major cycling artery.

"...the $5-million plan, announced yesterday by Montreal executive committee member Claude Dauphin, will turn de Maisonneuve Blvd. into a major east-west cycling artery and eliminate some parking on the south side of that boulevard. It will also add a total of 20 kilometres of bike lanes and paths to the city's existing network, link some existing bike routes, make some natural cycling routes a little safer by adding bike lanes and widen some reserved bus and taxi lanes to accommodate cyclists."
