Milwaukee exemplifies a mid-sized American city with a problem getting noticed by investors and thus developing its local economy. The city "confronts many of the same economic challenges as other Midwestern cities that have started to tackle the hurdles with comprehensive plans, savvy Web sites and teams of business development specialists who support both." Different cities around the region are using a wide range of techniques to attract business, some more successfully than others. A strong web presence, marketing team, and vision for city development top the list.
