Bay Area office rents are among the highest in the nation and the shortage of office space is starting to have some really strange effects.
The shortage of office space in California's Bay Area has caused rents to skyrocket to the highest in the U.S. ahead of even mid-town Manhattan. Fluctuations in the NASDAQ directly affect demand and prices in this area of high concentration of dot-com companies. The acute shortage office space is staring to have some really strange effects. "Prices have risen so high it's cheaper in many areas to buy a building than to sign a long-term lease."
