Can Streetcars Revitalize Urban Areas?

The city of Charlotte considers introducing trollys to help revitalize troubled neighborhoods.
"Charlotte Trolley Inc. brought Laubscher to Charlotte to talk about how streetcars sparked redevelopment in some rundown San Francisco neighborhoods. The same thing has started along the trolley track in Charlotte's historic South End, said Terry Shook, president of the nonprofit Charlotte Trolley. The city's light-rail trains will use that same track, starting in 2007."
