How Does Your City Rate?

Boston, Cincinnati and Minneapolis have the best urban park systems in the US, while Miami, Detroit and Cleveland rank near the bottom.
The rankings, provided by nonprofit The Trust for Public Land and the Urban Land Institute, are part of the first in-depth look at city park systems. It offers a glimpse at how much importance cities place on preserving open space and providing recreation. Inside City Parks rates the nation's 25 largest cities using 15 indicators such as the percentage of park land in each city, expenditures on park programs per resident and the availability of pools, tennis courts and recreation centers. The cities were rated from 1 to 5 stars. San Diego and San Francisco get three stars; Los Angeles gets two stars.
