Performing Arts Centers: No Longer Just For Downtown?

An increasing number of suburban jurisdictions are building major art centers.

On Saturday, the Baltimore Symphony and cellist Yo-Yo Ma will play in the inaugural concert at Strathmore Hall, a $100 million performing arts venue in Montgomery County, MD, near Washington, D.C. In addition to Washington, Atlanta, Los Angeles and the Twin Cities are just some of the places where major performance venues have been built or are under construction in suburban areas.
